A Father's Pride by Emily B.

She looks up at him, safe in his arms
He gets lost in his daughter’s wondering eyes
She has so much to learn, he’ll never be far
He’s devoted to her like the sun to the skies

Eager to see whom she will become
He teaches her, watches her, lets her discover
He hopes someday she’ll know where love comes from
And believes in the power of the skies above her

Before her he was a slave to his work
He now sees through happier eyes
Before her he never smiled more than a smirk
Now he knows how joy can make you cry.

A father’s pride can’t measure a mile
To the love his heart knows when he sees her smile.

Emily, this was a wonderful poem with surely a great message. This was the one that I read in Social Studies and it's still good the second time around.
I think you should have added the picture though, it gave a great essense to it. All in all, its great no matter what.
It flowed well, the idea was nice and innocent....really nice job.

SMELLLY MELLLY,
Your poem was so lovely, you rhymed the words perfectly! When you said "Before he was a slave to his work" I really enjoyed that, i thought it was a cool way to express how she's his pride and joy without really saying it. This poem made me feel very happy, you can tell that the relationship between you and your father is very strong. I love the way you write, it just all makes sense.

emilyyy! i thought this poem was the cutest thing in the world. I thought ti truely described the love most fathers have for their daughters. It reminded me of the song my little girl by tim mcgraw. It showed how children can change a parents life for the better!:)

LOVE YOUUUUUUUU
